We like the area we chose, which is the Forest Lake section of Wantagh in the section with Capes and Colonials, not splits. Additonally there is the unnamed, but basically "Twin Lakes" section of Wantagh that is nice and full of mature trees.

I would also say, although the stores aren't terrible, there really is no downtown to Wantagh. Merrick has a much nicer downtown. JDubs different, not less. Posted by WestEndLove Posted by evrythng4areason We bought in seaford two years ago and absolutely fell in love with the area.

I live in the Seaford Manor area. We usually do grocery shopping at Waldbaums which is on the corner of Jerusalem and Hicksville Road. Posted by CSK I'm not as familiar with the Seaford area, but know Wantagh pretty well and our search was mainly in Wantagh when we bought the 2nd time. Thanks for the info, yes, we aren't excluding Forest or Twin Lake section, which I forgot to mention. Thanks for the info! I'm going to drive by hopefully by the weekend. I'm going to drive by hopefully by the weekend Good luck!

We live in between sunrise and merrick, so I go to a few different places-there's a pathmark on merrick rd, uncle Giuseppe's not much further east, I'll also go to the trader joes in merrick. Wantagh and Seaford both are great towns to raise a family. Both good SDs but if it were me, I'd chose Wantagh if you can!

Both towns have everything you need. They are both relatively small towns, graduating between per class. MorningCuppaCoffee Tired! DH is from Seaford. His family and extended family still live there. There is a strong sense of community and most of his friends still live there and are raising their family there. We know several people who live in the area mentioned, although he grew up South of Merrick Rd.

We would've loved to have bought there too but couldn't afford it at the time pre-Sandy. We may consider it again for our forever home. His parents are actually trying to convince one of their kids to buy their house so they can move out East. Thanks everyone for the tips! I really appreciate it. Every time we go there, we love it and feel "at home". I just went through this. You can't go wrong with either area, but wantagh woods was my first choice and is gorgeousssss. Good luck!!
